KATRINA DANG

Girl with pink flowers

16" x 20"

Aarya

The beautiful bougainvillea flowers in my neighborhood were my inspiration for this oil painting. I was fascinated by the contrast of the blurred flowers and the focus in my friend’s face.

Girl blowing bubbles

16" x 25"

Emma

In this piece, I focused on capturing the glow from the backlighting and highlights of the bubbles to portray the youthfulness of the subject.

Dog with rainbow reflection

16" x 20"

Panda

I used a prism to refract light and create a rainbow on my dog’s face. The rainbow symbolizes the joy and love my dog brings into my life everyday.

Girl in deep thoughts

16" x 22"

Focus

This is a remake of a photo taken by Marta Bevacqua. I was fascinated by the shadow effects on the model's face.

Girl staring into mirror

16" x 25"

Katrina

In this self-portrait, I captured my gaze as I stared into a mirror. The way we see ourselves in a reflection can reveal much about our emotion.

Girl laying in the flowers

14" x 18"

Meadow

I wanted to capture the serenity and stillness of this moment as my friend daydreamed among the flowers. The pop of color in this piece represents the beauty that nature brings into our lives.

Girl behind palm leaves

11" x 14"

Aarya

I was inspired by the natural shadows of the palm trees outside my house to create this piece of my friend.

Woman smiling

11" x 14"

Aunt Tam

Lace was used in the photography process to create the intricate shadows on her face. I aimed to capture the complexity of the lace as a representation of her beauty.

ABOUT

Welcome to my website! I am a high school student based in San Diego, California. All of the pieces you see on this website are done with oil paint. I have been oil painting since I was in 2nd grade, but rediscovered my love for painting throughout the activities and art classes I took in high school. My favorite types of paintings are realistic portraits and I gain much of my inspiration from various light and shadow effects. I am just a young individual looking to share my passion for painting with the people around me and create memorable pieces of art for others to cherish.

50% of my earnings will be donated to the Mitchell Thorp Foundation, a nonprofit that supports families whose children suffer from life-threatening diseases. From being involved with the organization through their youth leadership council for several years, the Mitchell Thorp Foundation has empowered me to make a difference in other individuals' lives. I will be giving back to this organization to show my appreciation!

I love this portrait of me! Many of my friends and family members like it too and asked me about Katrina’s work! She has so much talent at such a young age! Thank you for this painting, Katrina!

Trystan
Katrina did an amazing job with our son’s painting! I love how she captured his joy and smile! I am in awe of how lifelike she’s able to recreate photographs. She was even able to edit out things from the photograph that we didn’t want painted! She truly is such a talented artist. Katrina is also very professional and communicated with us throughout the process. I know nothing about art, but I appreciated her asking our input on the details. I will definitely be a lifelong customer! You will not be disappointed!

Katrina was very accommodating with our requests and kept us up to date on all progress. She was very efficient and was able to do above and beyond what we asked. Her talent really captured our dogs' personalities and we can't wait to hang the pictures up.

Phuong
Katrina is an amazing artist! I wanted to gift my mom a painting for her 71st birthday and Katrina came to mind right away. She was very easy to communicate with and kept me updated often. I also appreciated her attention to detail and flexibility. I plan to commission a painting of my dog next. Katrina, thank you so much again for my painting, such a beautiful portrait of my mom.

Winter Scene
It is amazing how Katrina was able to capture the Christmas scenery that I have kept in my mind since my childhood. She brought the image in my mind to life based on my descriptions. I am very impressed and thrilled with the results and will display it every Christmas season.

Two Dogs
The artwork Ms. Dang created for my children's Christmas gifts is nothing short of AMAZING! The colors, texture, and realism of portraits left my children in awe. I am excited to have her create another painting for me.
